Ex-London 2012 chief joins League top body

The Football League has appointed Debbie Jevans, the former London 2012 Olympic executive who is now head of the 2015 Rugby World Cup organising committee, as a new independent board member.

The former tennis professional said: “This is an exciting opportunity to join the board of the Football League and make a contribution to the governance and direction of football — a sport I have followed, as a fan, for many years.”

She joins chairman Greg Clarke and Richard Bowker as independent directors but she is not the league’s first female board member — former Tranmere director Lorraine Rogers was on the board for many years.
