MORE than 200 people attended a packed meeting of Momentum in Leeds on Saturday to hear speakers condemn the Tories’ “unmandated” continuation of attacks on working people and their unions.

Lead speaker Richard Burgon, shadow justice secretary and Labour MP for Leeds East, told the audience that resurgence in support for a Labour Party with a socialist manifesto — led by Jeremy Corbyn — had been met by resistance both inside and outside the Labour Party.

He said: “But what we went through then will seem like a cake walk compared to what we will face from the establishment when we are in government implementing that socialist programme.”

Meeting chair Luke Farley praised the support given to Momentum by the Morning Star, and said there were many new, young Momentum supporters at the meeting.

A Morning Star stall raised £135.
