Unauthorised sale of a Banksy work was branded an insult to the local community by north London TUC activists yesterday.
The No Ball Games graffiti — originally sprayed on a Tottenham wall — was chiselled down in 2013.
It is now being shown at the private Stealing Banksy exhibition and is set to be auctioned for an estimated £500,000.
“The No Ball Games Banksy was given to the people of Tottenham by the artist, not designed to be sold,” said Haringey TUC Secretary Keith Flett.
The artist has himself slammed the exhibition as “disgusting,” telling the press that no display consent was requested.
Concierge company Sincura is hosting the event. It claims to have been asked by anonymous patrons to manage the piece.
In a statement, the company’s director Tony Baxter said that “100 per cent of the profits from the sale of No Ball Games is being given back to a local charity.”
