Ghana stars sent home after training flare-up

GHANA’S two biggest stars were suspended from the team yesterday just hours before their group decider against Portugal.

AC Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari and Schalke Kevin-Prince Boateng had their World Cup accreditation withdrawn by the Ghana FA.

The team is embroiled in a row over World Cup bonuses that saw Ghana charter a private jet to fly nearly £2 million in cash to Brazil to head off a player strike.

Muntari reportedly slapped a GFA official during heated exchanges while Boatend “verbally abused” coach Kwesi Appiah, said the GFA.

Both were suspended “indefinitely” from the Black Stars.

Boateng told German magazine Sport-Bild that the pair were suspended after Appiah sent them back to dressing rooms during training then became “insulting” when asked why.
