With star-crossed lovers, demons, a flying white horse and never-ending tedious and meaningful voiceovers, this will make you want to head for the nearest cinema exit.
A ridiculously saccharine supernatural love story about destiny and miracles, based on Mark Helprin¹s novel, it's a disappointing directorial debut by Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman (for A Beautiful Mind and The Da Vinci Code among others).
Although exquisitely shot it seems a complete waste of its stellar cast (Colin Farrell, Russell Crowe, Will Smith and William Hurt) who can't work miracles with the utterly sentimental and trite premise despite their heartfelt performances.
