Comment: Ukip not the answer to unhappiness with Westminster

Don't fall for Nigel Farage's attempt to look mainstream, writes Hope Not Hate Ukip expert SIMON CRESSY

THIS is Ukip’s biggest ever conference and it’s trying to appear mainstream.

There’s no doubt the party’s grown and more people have become aware of it.

But I still believe there’s that core of nastiness within it, trying to pull the wool over people’s eyes to hide the nasty element — and that includes Nigel Farage.

Take Amjad Bashir MEP, the communities spokesman yesterday. He supports Ukip’s policy of stopping immigration but was found to be employing illegal immigrants in his businesses.

The party is full of hypocrisy. If they tell a lie we’ll break it down and tell people what the facts are. If we find any racism, homophobia or sexism, we’ll expose it. We’ll keep exposing Ukip for what it really is.

Ukip’s not the answer. A lot of people are unhappy with mainstream politics at the minute, myself included, but Ukip is not the answer.

It’s part of the problem, not part of the solution.
