Lambeth College staff launch indefinite strike

TEACHERS and staff members at a south London college are set to go on indefinite strike after they voted overwhelmingly for strike action.

Lambeth College staff had gone on strike on May 1 but was forced to backtrack on the originally planned unlimited strike, after the management placed an injunction on UCU members.

The union said that it wasn’t expecting a quick resolution to the dispute and that further strike plans would be announced next week.

“Delaying the strike thanks to a technicality has done nothing to improve relations with staff,” said UCU regional official Una O’Brien. “The college was wrong to resort to anti-union legislation in an effort to halt staff from taking legitimate strike action.”
