North-west campaigners determined to oust Nick Griffin from European Parliament

Wirral and Bury anti-fascists organise to give BNP MEP the boot in May elections

Activists in north-west England have launched a determined campaign to oust British National Party MEP Nick Griffin in European Parliament elections on May 22.

Of British MEPs, Mr Griffin won his seat with the fewest votes.

On the Wirral anti-fascists including Communication Workers Union members took to the streets to hand out leaflets.

In Bury, Unite Against Fascism (UAF) was invited to speak at an event organised by co-operative football club FC United before Saturday’s match.

Paul Jenkins of North West UAF said: “We need to keep up the campaigning. Nick Griffin only needs around 7 per cent of the vote to keep his MEP seat.”
