SCIENCE: Stephen Hawking is teaming up with Monty Python for their reunion shows.

The cult comedians — John Cleese, Michael Palin, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones — are kicking off their reunion gigs today and the finale on July 20 will be broadcast live to film theatres across the globe.

 

ENVIRONMENT: The giant clean-up operation at Glastonbury was began yesterday as more than 120,000 festival-goers left the site.

Many of those travelling home were caught up in delays as the country roads around the Somerset site became clogged up with traffic, although organisers said they were not as bad as expected.

 

RAIL: Passengers faced long delays on a key London to Scotland route yesterday after to a person was hit by a train near Darlington.

The incident in County Durham led to hold-ups of up to 90 minutes, with some passengers being told to wait three hours. The line between Newcastle and York was closed and replacement buses were arranged.
