Fighting back for workers, Unite is taking Trade Unionism into the tens of thousands of unorganised workplaces in Britain and Ireland. Working from Organising Units in the Union's 10 Regions, each headed by a Senior Organiser, the Organisers work as a team in a National Organising Structure, led by Unite's National Organising and Leverage Department. Organisers in Training

Pay: £24,015 + £2,000 per annum unsocial hours payment (non-pensionable) (London Weighting £3,500)

Organisers

Pay: £32,920 - £35,224 + £2,000 per annum unsocial hours payment (non-pensionable) (London Weighting £3,500)

The Organiser/Organiser in Training must have the ability to engage with people, identify leaders and motivate workers to take action. Applicants must have experience in representing or organising in the world of work.

Vacancy - Bar Person, RMT Education Centre, Doncaster

Due to the expansion of the RMTÕs education centre, a vacancy has arisen for a Bar Person at the UnionÕs facility in Doncaster.

This role is a new addition to a successful team of staff, providing an additional service to tutors, students & visitors to the centre.

The remuneration for the post is £10.95 per hour for a 15-hour week.

The Hours of Duty are as follows:

Monday - Wednesday 19.00 hours to 22.30 hours

Thursday 19.00 hours to 23.30 hours

Benefits of the post include a Final Salary Pension Scheme and assistance with travel up to a 40-mile limit.

Solicitor (5 years PQE)

Legal Department, NURMT, Unity House, 39 Chalton Street, London NW1 1JD and Maritime House Clapham Old Town SW4 0JW.

A new role has arisen for the position of Solicitor in our expanding Legal Department within the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers. We are an established and progressive Trade Union serving members within the Rail, Maritime and Transport sectors.

The role is an exciting development and offers opportunities for a dynamic motivated individual to advance within the expanding Legal Department. We are looking for a Qualified Solicitor or equivalent with 5 years PQE to assist our Legal Officer in delivering Employment advice to our members. The role requires experience and a proven track record in handling employment cases to Tribunal level and the ability to run a case load with minimal supervision. Good communication and IT skills are essential as the successful applicant will be required to prepare their own advices with minimum technical support.

The salary is £47,372 (inclusive of a London Allowance) for a 34-hour week. Employment benefits include a Final Salary Pension Scheme and assistance with travel up to a 40-mile limit. The successful applicant will be required to work at both our offices and in our Regions with flexibility to move where directed by the General Secretary.

Subeditor



We are seeking an experienced subeditor to join an expanding production team at our busy east London newsroom. The successful applicant will have an interest in labour movement and progressive issues, a broad understanding of the trade union movement and its political priorities and a commitment to the political objectives of the paper.

The successful applicant will...
- A flair for the English language and for snappy, punchy presentation,
- Attention to detail,
- Tight copy-editing skills,
- The ability to work well as part of a small team and offer new ideas,
- Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop preferable

Some Sunday working is required as part of a five-day, 35-hour week in order to cover the paper’s six publication days. Wages start at £20,696 per annum subject to probationary period. Holidays start at 28 days a year rising to 30 days, plus bank holidays.
