SCOTTISH anti-austerity activists yesterday sent solidarity greetings to the huge People’s Assembly demonstration in London and revealed their own packed calendar of resistance.

People’s Assembly Scotland chair Phil McGarry said that activists in Fife, Glasgow and Dundee would be with the London marchers in spirit.

“We in Scotland will commit ourselves to mobilise support for fairness, justice, equality and restoration of our trade union rights. It’s time austerity ended.”

Organisers are planning a rally on July 5 to mark the 66th anniversary of the founding of the National Health Service and would offer “support and solidarity” to public-sector workers when they returned to the picket lines on July 10.

And plans are in motion for the Scottish campaign’s first AGM on October 4, followed by demonstrations in Scotland and England on October 18.
