Ninjago could be a killer at Kempton

Our tipster casts his expert eye over the pick of the weekend’s meets

THERE is some superb action both on the flat (Kempton) and over the sticks, primarily at Haydock Park with the former providing arguably the best bet of the day in the rejuvenated Ninjago in the 2.15 at the Sunbury-on-Thames track.

Richard Hannon’s charge ran in all the top sprinting handicaps as both a three and four-year-old but either seemed to find bad luck in running or was badly handicapped.

But this term it looks as though Hannon has found the key to him with headgear applied.

It certainly helped last time out over course and distance when he seemed to apply himself better with the blinkers on and see off a fair field headed by American Hope and company.

This looks a better race but if Richard Hughes can get him covered up again and use his tidy turn of foot then he could gazump the likes of Speculative Bid and Triple Chocolate to close home.

Later on, the Listed Snowdrop Fillies’ Stakes looks wide open and it is hard to assess which of these fillies will have made the requisite improvement over the winter.

However, I have been hearing some good reports of the John Gosden-trained Solar Magic.

If you can forgive her moderate run at Haydock on her final start of last season, I think that the daughter of Pivotal has strong claims in the 2.50 and she can land this before being stepped up in distance.

Gosden can complete a double with the unexposed Made With Love in the 3.25, while later on have a second look at Mubaraza in the Queen’s Prize at 5.10.

With showers forecast at Haydock Park, all the races will take some getting, but especially the three-and-a-half mile Tim Molony Chase at 2.40.

That particular test should suit Beforeall right down to the ground.

Oliver Sherwood’s charge ran a cracking race behind Le Reve at Sandown and then may have found the Eider Chase coming that bit too quick for him.

Having dropped a pound in the weights since then, he gets the vote over Ziga Boy and Pinerolo.

I am also really keen on Algernon Pazham in the three-miler at 3.10.

This lightly raced individual ran way below form at Uttoxeter last time out, but a 21-day break will have helped.

It will also be fairly testing up at Carlisle and the two I am interested in are Tango Du Juilley (2.20) and Armedanddangerous (4.40).

The former was simply outclassed behind Vautour at Cheltenham, while the latter has a good chance of reversing recent course and distance form with Basford Ben.
