Parking wardens to bring work to a halt with strikes

PARKING wardens in Enfield yesterday announced plans to strike in their battle for the London living wage of £9.40 an hour.

Private contractor NSL provides warden services for Enfield Borough Council. The wardens are currently paid £8.41 an hour and plan to walk out on Friday December 11.

GMB regional officer Richard Owen said: “The GMB Enfield wardens will be taking their first day of strike action on December 11.

“This will coincide with the strike in Brighton & Hove on that same day.

“Further dates will be announced to coincide with the Christmas shopping crowds.

“Recent settlements with NSL in Camden and Kensington and Chelsea have demonstrated that NSL are capable of reaching decent settlements. Members in Enfield want a similar deal.”

GMB has also announced six days of strike action this month by NSL parking wardens in Brighton and Hove.
