Ukrainian communists call for funds to back Petro Symonenko presidency bid

Communist Party of Ukraine needs donations to fight 'oligarchic' coup

Ukrainian communists appealed to voters for funds today to support Petro Symonenko’s bid for the presidency.

The Communist Party of Ukraine (CPU) urged “all those who suffer from the reigning national oligarchic nightmare and who want to change their lives for the better” to donate to the first secretary’s campaign.

The party has come under repeated and violent attacks from the fascists who provided the muscle for February’s coup.

Right Sector thugs broke into the CPU regional offices in south-eastern Sumy on Monday night.

The fascists tore down pictures of Lenin, ripped up leaflets and brutally beat regional secretary Valery Siryachenko.

“This is clearly a manifestation of banditry. We will prepare a statement to the police and the prosecutor’s office so that perpetrators are punished to the fullest extent,” he said before going to hospital.

Outnumbered communists held off a full fascist takeover of the building for more than an hour until police turned up.
