UNITE won back recognition at Yorkshire Ambulance Service yesterday, following a two-year dispute and a series of strikes by its 400 members.
Unite protested two years ago when management announced plans to replace some highly skilled paramedics with poorly trained ambulance assistants.
Bosses also announced changes to shift patterns meaning staff could work 10 hours with no break and de-recognised the union when members protested over the risk posed to patients.
But the union has now been re-recognised by management.
Unite and Yorkshire Ambulance Service said in a joint statement: “Both parties are resolved to settle all outstanding issues and return immediately to a normalised working relationship.
“In acknowledgement of the fact that both parties have committed to building a constructive working relationship, an agreement has now been reached that will see Unite formally re-recognised by the trust.”
