EastEnders star denies racist abuse

An EastEnders actor accused of racially abusing a council warden was in court yesterday, where she denied having ever used the word “nigger.”

Linda Henry, who plays Shirley Carter on the soap, has been accused of going into a tirade after being told off for throwing a cigarette butt on the ground.

A black female warden, Iyabo Adetokunbo, and her black male colleague approached Ms Henry last September as they saw the actor’s litter drop.

While giving evidence in court Ms Adetokunbo said Ms Henry replied: “Do you know who I am?”

When the warden insisted on taking Ms Henry’s details to issue the fixed penalty, the actor was said to have ranted: “Who do you think you are? Go away, fuck off, nigger.”

When taking the witness stand Ms Henry denied having used the racial slur adding she found the word “repulsive.”
