Tories shift manifesto launch to dodge clash

THE Tories revealed yesterday that they will delay their election manifesto launch by a day to avoid clashing with Labour’s event.

Party sources accused Labour leader Ed Miliband of trying to “avoid scrutiny” by unveiling his policy platform at the same time as Tories on Monday.

The shift came as PM David Cameron ratcheted up the attack on Labour, backing personal jibes at Mr Miliband and questioning his commitment to Trident.A senior Tory source said their launch would now happen on Tuesday.

“Labour tried to avoid scrutiny of manifesto by doing it on the same day as ours,” the insider said.

“So we are moving ours. We want Labour to have a full day of scrutiny, and we have a full day to tell people about our plans for a better future.”
