Labour Party conferenceL Unions call for special conference on EU vote

LABOUR should hold a special conference to determine its position on the forthcoming EU referendum, two affiliated trade unions have urged.

General union GMB has updated its Labour Party conference motion, which is guaranteed a slot on the floor as one of four union choices, to include a call for Labour’s campaign strategy to be approved by grassroots delegates when the date of the vote is set.

The demand is echoed in a similar motion from food workers’ union BFAWU.
