Boyle blasts ‘moron in a hurry’ Beeb

COMEDIAN Frankie Boyle berated the BBC for sensationalism last night — after the red-faced broadcaster’s official Twitter account got its Stars mixed up.

Auntie attempted to tweet Desmond-owned gutter rag the Daily Star’s front “Shades romps put kinky Brits in hospital” only to include an image of yesterday’s Morning Star on tax avoidance.

Mr Boyle flagged up the incident on social media, saying: “I think it’s telling that a manufactured PR story in the Daily Star about sex would be tweeted by the BBC while the idea of a political headline from the Morning Star being forwarded is unthinkable.

“Unsurprising but depressing.”

The Beeb later tweeted the Daily Miracle’s correct front page, with the Morning Star quickly becoming the third-most retweeted front of the day.

The corporation’s cock-up gives it the legal status of a “moron in a hurry.”

People’s papers’ lawyers attempted to lodge an injunction against the launch of the Daily Star in 1978, arguing that Express Newspapers should find a more distinctive name for tis new title.

But ruling against the Star, Justice Foster observed: “If one puts the two papers side by side I for myself would find that the two papers are so different in every way that only a moron in a hurry would be misled.”

The case was later cited by computer giant Apple in their 2006 case against Apple Records.
