NHS activists embroider ‘kill the health bill’ hankies

NHS activists are embroidering dozens of handkerchiefs with the message “Don’t blow it! Kill the Health & Care Bill before it kills us!”

The handkerchiefs will be sent to Tory MPs in time for Parliament reopening in September, urging them to vote down the much-criticised Bill that will accelerate the privatisation and destruction of the NHS.

Jenny Green of campaign group 999 Call for the NHS Calderdale and Kirklees in West Yorkshire said: “The message is not a joke.

“The Bill — also known as the NHS corporate takeover Bill — is bad for patients and bad for NHS staff.

“It aims to reduce the government’s obligations to secure NHS care for us all, potentially making the government non-compliant with its duty to provide an effective framework for protection of the right to life.

“The ‘Don’t Blow It’ hankies will mostly go to MPs in key Tory marginals as we think these MPs are most likely to be inclined to listen to their constituents.”
