Anti-racists to protest Farage's far-right love-in with Turning Point USA

NIGEL FARAGE is to appear with the founder of an alt-right youth organisation at a lavish dinner on Thursday to raise money for its British offshoot.

The Brexit Party leader will be making an appearance alongside Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, at swanky centre One Great George Street, a stone’s throw away from Parliament.

Stand Up to Racism (SUTR) said it would be protesting outside the Grade II listed dinner venue on the night, and warned that both Turning Point USA and its UK wing (TPUK) are heavily linked to far-right groups.

TPUK’s launch event in February this year was attended by English alt-right YouTuber Paul Joseph Watson, who originally made his name opining about chemtrails on conspiracy site InfoWars.

His more recent anti-Islam and anti-semitic writing was cited by prosecutors at the Old Bailey today as an inspiration for Darren Osborne to carry out the Finsbury Park Mosque attack two years ago.

Some of TPUSA’s donors also fund anti-Muslim hate groups such as the David Horowitz Freedom Centre & the Middle East Forum, known for helping fund fascist Tommy Robinson, SUTR added.

SUTR co-convener Weyman Bennett said: “Nigel Farage has a long history of Islamophobia and scapegoating refugees and migrants.

“His association with Turning Point UK, with its attacks on ‘cultural Marxism’ the women’s and LGBT+ rights, shows that Farage in his role as leader of the new Brexit Party hasn’t changed.”

The protest will take place from 6pm this evening.
