Bin strikes loom in west London as refuse workers ballot on industrial action over pay

BIN strikes could be looming in west London as refuse workers represented by the GMB union prepare for a consultative industrial action ballot over pay.

Staff at Ealing Council’s trading company, Greener Ealing Ltd, are angry over a below-inflation 2 per cent wage boost for 2022-23 that amounts to a “massive” real terms pay cut, the union stressed.

The dates of the vote, which would need to be followed by a formal strike ballot, will be announced imminently, GMB confirmed.
