Flooring factory workers protest in Manchester after being laid off to pre-empt a strike

WORKERS at a Manchester flooring factory staged a protest rally today after being laid off by management to pre-empt strike action.

The Polyflor factory at Whitefields in Greater Manchester is part of an international corporation and its 150 workers are members of general union GMB.

The workers were due to strike today against an attack on their pay and conditions, including a cut in sick pay.
