ENVIRONMENTAL activist group Extinction Rebellion has urged anyone who cares about climate change to join a series of protests in major British cities next week.
The Summer Uprising demonstrations will be staged in Bristol, Leeds, Cardiff, Glasgow and London from Monday.
Activists will demand that the government act now to halt biodiversity loss and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025.
An Extinction Rebellion spokesperson said: “A thousand rebels have said they are willing to risk arrest and 500 rebels are willing to go to prison over the actions if necessary.
“Hundreds are prepared to block cities all week if local councils refuse to meet our demands.”
Extinction Rebellion also announced yesterday that the next major International Rebellion wave of worldwide protests will begin on Monday October 7.
The announcement coincided with the start of preparations for the East London Uprising this weekend.
