Police officers who took selfies with dead sisters jailed for two years and nine months

TWO police officers who took selfies with the bodies of murdered sisters Nicole Smallman and Bibaa Henry have each been jailed for two years and nine months.

PC Deniz Jaffer and PC Jamie Lewis were handed the sentences at the Old Bailey today after both pleading guilty to misconduct in public office.

The two officers had been assigned to guard the scene where Henry, 46, and Smallman, 27, were found dead in the bushes in a park in Wembley, north-west London, in June last year.

Instead, they breached the cordon to take photographs of the bodies, which were then shared with colleagues and members of the public on WhatsApp.

One was a “selfie-style” image which included Mr Lewis’s face superimposed on it. Two officers also described the victims as “dead birds” in WhatsApp groups.

In a victim impact statement read to the court, the sisters’ mother Mina accused the officers of having “dehumanised our children,” describing their actions as “pure misogyny.”

Smallman and Henry had been celebrating a birthday when they were fatally stabbed by Danyal Hussein, 19.
