Sarah Everard’s killer denies indecent exposure

WAYNE COUZENS pleaded not guilty today to a string of flashing offences allegedly committed in the weeks before he kidnapped, raped and killed Sarah Everard.

The 49-year-old appeared at the Old Bailey via video link to plead not guilty to four counts of exposure.

The charges relate to four separate alleged incidents in Swanley, Kent, between January 22 and February 27 2021, while he was a serving police officer.

Wearing a grey sweatshirt, Mr Couzens, who is serving a whole life order at Frankland prison in Durham, spoke initially to confirm his identity and enter his plea.

Judge Mark Lucraft QC has yet to set a date for the indecent exposure trial.

Further hearings are due to take place at the Old Bailey over three days from November 1, the judge said.

The case was sent to the Old Bailey last month after Mr Couzens opted for the trial to be heard by a crown court.
