Socialists to draw battle lines in fightback against the Tories' Covid disaster

Over 1,000 sign up for Arise — a Festival of Labour Left Ideas

SOCIALISTS are set to draw battle lines in their fightback against the Tory government’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic at an online meeting next weekend.

More than 1,000 people have already registered for the event hosted by Arise — a Festival of Labour Left Ideas, which is supported by the Morning Star as well as other groups and publications.

A spokesperson for Arise said: “Now is the time for us to step up the fight against the Tories and for democracy and socialist policies in the Labour Party.

“This will be the biggest and most important gathering of Labour’s left for some time — don’t miss it.”

In support of the event, Labour MP Jon Trickett said that there will be discussions on the “ways out of the multiple crises the country is facing and proposing exactly what we need to do next.”

Guests are set to include Labour MPs Mr Lavery, Diane Abbott, Apsana Begum, Richard Burgon, Rebecca Long Bailey, John McDonnell and Jon Trickett, among others.

The event is scheduled for Saturday January 23 to start at 2pm and end at 5.30pm.
