THOUSANDS of TSSA members across the rail industry are taking industrial action tomorrow over pay, job security and conditions.
It is the first nationwide, multi-operator strike action by TSSA members in a generation and will be followed by a further stoppage on Saturday.
TSSA members in ticket offices, stations, control rooms, timetabling and other support roles will join the action at Network Rail and 11 train operators.
Strikes will take place at Avanti West Coast, c2c, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, Great Western Railway, LNER and Southeastern on August 18 and 20.
There will also be industrial action short of a strike at West Midlands Trains, Northern, Greater Anglia and TransPennine Express on and around those dates.
TSSA general secretary Manual Cortes said: “If ministers had any sense they would come to the table and sort this out, so we have a fair settlement for workers who were hailed as heroes in the pandemic.”
The Department for Transport were invited to comment.
