Bin strikes set to continue in Scotland next week after unions reject ‘unacceptable’ pay offer
Mountains of rubbish outside Edinburgh's Waverley Station

A major clean-up operation began in Edinburgh today after refuse workers returned to work following a two-week walkout during the capital’s world-famous fringe festival.

But another wave of industrial action by bin workers and education staff, including in the early years sector, is still due to hit services nationwide from next week after the Unite and GMB unions said Monday’s wage proposal had not gone far enough.
