21st Century Poetry The Care Home

Time
the unconvicted mass murderer
is waiting here
waiting
silently and patiently for us all
as far as the eye can see
cold then warm corridors
unfolding like pallid limbs
through time
ever accelerating.
Death lurks behind a facade
of senile smiles
false reassurances and valium
Memory game systems fading into failure
time is as was before a virus
behind blank, numbered bedroom doors
Grey hairs are swept from grey tiled floors
Rising in the air a little, before falling
Morale is low
