Epstein's lawyers 'not satisfied' with official suicide verdict

LAWYERS who had acted for Jeffrey Epstein said at the weekend they were “not satisfied” by an official finding that he committed suicide.

They are demanding video footage from the federal prison holding the US financier, who was due to be tried for trafficking and sexually abusing underage girls. Mr Epstein was found dead in the Metropolitan Correctional Centre in New York on August 10 — a death immediately labelled “way too convenient” by New York Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Famous figures associated with the paedophile at various times include US President Donald Trump, former president Bill Clinton and Britain’s Prince Andrew, leading victims to insist a full investigation continues despite Mr Epstein’s death to reveal who else may have been involved.

New York chief medical examiner Dr Barbara Sampson ruled on Friday that Mr Epstein had killed himself by hanging, though some injuries, such as the breaking of the hyoid bone in his neck, are not usually associated with hanging.

US attorney-general William Barr has condemned “serious irregularities” at the prison.
