ISRAEL’S communists have written to other communist and left progressive parties, asking them to examine how best to generate material assistance to hospitals in Gaza after this week’s horrific massacre.
“Following the massacre in Gaza this week and the continuous Israeli aggression […] 60 Palestinians were killed by Israel Defence Forces (IDF) snippers, including children, leaving thousands of Palestinians with severe injuries to become handicapped if they survive,” the Communist Party of Israel (CPI) wrote.
“Hospitals in Gaza are in great distress and cry out for both medical and humanitarian aid to help the medical staff continue the important life-saving operations and surgeries needed,” it added.
The CPI launched its own Humanitarian and Medical Aid Campaign on Wednesday to assist the resistance and determination of the Palestinian people in Gaza and particularly to support the hospitals in Gaza, “which are collapsing under these unreasonable circumstances and the thousands of injuries to be treated daily, for weeks now.”
The CPI accuses imperialism, zionism and reactionary forces of trying to “assassinate” justice, peace and the right to self-determination of peoples in the Middle East and many other regions.
“It is our duty to resist and protest against these vicious actions,” it declares.
Israel’s communists, comprising both Arabs and Jews, demonstrated this week against the government-ordered IDF slaughter in Gaza and the transfer of the US embassy to Jerusalem.
Members and supporters, including Knesset members, were beaten and arrested by police.
