Rail Gourmet staff to take strike action

RAIL GOURMET staff in Edinburgh are taking further strike action against harassment and pay injustice, they announced today.

The RMT union members, who work on London North Eastern Railway, are angry over management’s refusal to pay staff for additional work.

They also claim that workers are being bullied and harassed by management, which is also ignoring and abusing longstanding disciplinary procedures.

Following an overwhelming ballot, the staff will now be striking on Tuesday December 4 and on Christmas Eve.

RMT general secretary Mick Cash said: “It is now down to Rail Gourmet to take this dispute seriously and start talking about a settlement that puts fair treatment in the workplace at the top of the agenda.

"It is clear that the only way we can get management to address these issues immediately is by taking further strike action. ”
