Rail gourmet workers in Edinburgh set to strike after ‘breakdown in industrial relations’

RAIL Gourmet workers in Edinburgh will be striking again tomorrow after a “comprehensive breakdown in industrial relations.”

RMT members at the Edinburgh depot overwhelmingly voted to take strike action on the intercity LNER line.

Workers say that their dispute is about the bullying and harassment of individual staff members by management, the abuse of disciplinary procedures while on the job and non-payment of additional duties.

The workers are also set to strike again on Christmas Eve.

RMT general secretary Mick Cash said: “This is a fight for workplace justice involving a crucial group of staff servicing the catering functions on LNER trains and they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect just like any other group of transport workers.

“It is now down to Rail Gourmet to take this dispute seriously and start talking about a settlement that puts fair treatment in the workplace at the top of the agenda.”
