ST JOHNSTONE: Manager Callum Davidson admits that his Scottish Cup final selection is up in the air and that he fears further setbacks from Covid-19.

Saints were struck by two positive cases on May 3, two further players were ordered into self-isolation before their semi-final win against St Mirren, and they were without a further four first-team players for Wednesday’s defeat by Celtic.

Davidson said that a strict safety regime has been in place ahead of next Saturday’s final, but added: “It doesn’t mean we are out of the woods — it’s important we carry it on this weekend and into the next week. With the incubation period, we have to be really careful.”

EUROS: Man City defender Aymeric Laporte is switching from France to Spain ahead of the European Championship.

Fifa said today that it had approved the switch of eligibility after the French soccer federation consented to the Spanish federation’s request, which followed the Spanish government’s decision to grant Laporte citizenship.

Now 26, Laporte is a former France under-21 international but has never played for the senior national team. He said he has family roots in the Basque region through his great-grandparents.

F1: Formula One announced the cancellation of next month’s Turkish Grand Prix today.

The race was set for June 13 but it was pulled from the schedule after the country was placed on the British government’s Covid-19 red list.

The Istanbul race will be replaced by a second grand prix in Austria, with F1 officials still hopeful of completing a record-breaking 23-round season.
