MEN’S FOOTBALL: The FA Cup’s Preliminary Round kicks off this weekend as the 208 winners from the Extra Preliminary Round continue their journey to Wembley. In tonight’s games historic giant-killers Northwich Victoria, who reached the third round in 2006, host West Didsbury and Chorlton, Stansted meet Buckhurst Hill, Peacehaven and Telscombe travel to Southall, Sholing host AFC Portchester and Aylesbury United take on Ardley United.

MEN’S CRICKET: The West Indies meet New Zealand in Barbados today for the second of their three match international one day series. The Windies won the first game by 5 wickets thanks to Shamarh Brooks steady 79 from 91 balls after both Akeal Hosein and Alzam Joseph had taken 3 wickets in the Kiwi’s innings. New Zealand are currently ranked as the world’s best 50 over team with the West Indies back in 9th

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Gareth Bale was missing again as Kwadwo Opoku’s second half strike ensured Los Angeles beat Wayne Rooney’s DC United 1-0 on Wednesday to move nine points clear in the Major Soccer League’s Western Conference. The 33 year old Welsh captain has only made four substitute appearances, scoring twice, since his move from Real Madrid, and is reportedly still suffering from a lack of match fitness.  

MEN’S CRICKET: Hampshire take the One Day Cup’s sole 100 per cent record into today’s game with current champions Glamorgan whilst Somerset, the only team without a win, host a Sussex side boasting Aristides Karvelas, the competition’s leading wicket taker. Derby’s hopes of reaching the knockout stages were dashed when Wednesday’s match with Kent was rained off and they also received a two point deduction after Mattie McKiernan used an oversized bat.
