MACCLESFIELD’S problems deepened as they were the victims of an FA Cup giant-killing against Isthmian League Premier Division side Kingstonian at Moss Rose.

League Two Town confirmed the game would go ahead after speculation that it would be postponed as a result of a players’ strike due to the club’s failure to pay their wages.

But no first-team players were included in their squad, they did turn up and watched the game from the stands, with their side consisting of youngsters and loanees, and they paid the price.

Dan Hector and Louie Theophanous both netted inside 11 minutes before Dan Bennett and Theophanous scored in the second half to give Kingstonian a thumping 4-0 win.

Fans also boycotted the clash and there were protests outside the ground against owner Amar Alkadhi.

Isthmian League North Division outfit Maldon & Tiptree also pulled off a major shock, winning 2-1 at Leyton Orient.

Danny Parish opened the scoring just before half-time, sparking wild celebrations, and Jerome Slew doubled their lead in the 65th minute.

Substitute James Dayton halved the deficit for Orient, who played against 10 men for the final six minutes following Parish’s dismissal.
