Women's Football White and Walsh secure the win for Man City

ELLEN WHITE and Kiera Walsh helped Manchester City keep their title hopes alive with a comfortable 2-0 win over Birmingham City in the Women’s Super League.

White broke the deadlock after just 34 seconds, firing home with a first-time shot into the centre of the goal from a low, hard cross from Jill Scott from the right wing.

Manchester City looked composed and on top for the majority of the game and caused Birmingham City problems.

Walsh doubled City’s lead, Scott assisting for a second time by pulling it back to Walsh on the edge of the area.

Her powerful long-range shot hit the inside of the left post and went in.

Birmingham’s best chances of the game were both long-range shots from skipper Lucy Staniforth, the first forcing a decent save from City keeper Ellie Roebuck and the second deflecting wide of the post.
