Women's Rugby Union Saracens increase commitment to women's side

SARACENS made a long-term commitment to their women’s side today, aiming to encourage players to get involved at the boardroom level.

The club enjoyed a phenomenally successful season in the Premier 15s, finishing top of the regular season standings before defeating Harlequins in the final to claim the inaugural title.

The developments will see the introduction of a number of changes, designed to provide a greater platform for the continued success and development of Saracens Women players, in turn ensuring the ongoing growth of the club in the future.

These changes will include the integration of the women’s coaching team i to the wider Saracens set-up, as well as the launch of a development pathway aimed at encouraging Saracens Women players to fill off the pitch roles within the club.

Laura Eddie, Chair at Saracens Women, said: “Over a number of seasons we have gained a reputation for producing some of the most exiting young talent in the league, while at the same time continuing to develop our experienced international players.

“The further integration of Saracens Women with Saracens provides an exciting opportunity for our players to continue to grow and maintains Saracens’ position at the forefront of the women’s game.”

Saracens chair Nigel Wray added: “It’s great that the champions of England are joining up with the champions of England! We really welcome the Saracens Women to the Allianz Park family. United we’re stronger.”
