Iran shares draft proposals for lifting of US sanctions at fourth day of talks in Vienna

IRAN shared draft proposals for the lifting of international nuclear sanctions — known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action —with five participating nations today.

Chief negotiator Ali Bageri-Kani shared the proposals to the so-called P4+1 — France, Britain, Germany, Russia and China —  during the fourth day of negotiations in the Austrian capital Vienna.

Iran is waiting for a response to see whether the group is prepared to discuss the draft, which also contains Tehran’s proposed commitments under the deal.

Mr Bageri-Kani urged negotiators not to allow “outside players” to disrupt negotiations.

He was referring to claims by Israeli intelligence suggesting that Iran is planning to enrich uranium up to 90 per cent.

The allegations, which were allegedly shared with the US and European teams, were scotched by International Atomic Energy Agency chief Rafael Grossi on Wednesday.

Talks have resumed after a pause to allow Iran’s new government to adjust after the election of President Ebrahim Raisi in June.

Tehran hopes that the discussions will lead to the lifting of US sanctions imposed after former president Donald Trump abandoned the nuclear deal in May 2018.
