Woman beheaded in suspected terror attack in Nice

A WOMAN was beheaded and at least two others killed in a sickening “Islamist terrorist attack” at a church in Nice yesterday morning.

President Emmanuel Macron branded the incident an Islamist terror attack.

France’s Catholic Church condemned what it called “an unspeakable attack” and warned: “Christians must not become symbols to be slaughtered.”

Nice imam Boubakeur Bekri said: “This is hateful, this is a crime and we feel deeply revolted by this machination. Muslims must react and denounce this horror. We must express our refusal of this situation.”

In another attack later in the day, a suspect with a knife reportedly shouting “Allahu Akbar” was shot dead by police in the town of Avignon.

The attacks came days after Mr Macron defended the publication of cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed, an act considered offensive by many Muslims, on grounds of secularism.

It led to calls for a boycott of French goods, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan branding Mr Macron mentally ill over his attitude towards Islam.
