WILFRIED ZAHA popped up with a goal in the dying embers of the Saturday’s game as Crystal Palace came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with West Ham at Selhurst Park.

Roy Hodgson praised his side’s spirited performance and how they kept going even when defeat looked like it was on the horizon.

“I thought it was a strong performance in the second half,” he said.

“I’m hoping it will give a little bit of confidence and security in the minds of these players that even when things are going against us, we must stick together.”

The hosts went behind against the run of play when Chicharito finished Aaron Cresswell’s cross with the outside of his boot following an impressive counter-attack.

Zaha then had a penalty appeal waved away by Robert Madley, much to the dismay of the home supporters — especially considering what was to come.

As the ball broke loose, Andre Ayew began a run from inside his own half and struck an unstoppable effort from 25 yards past a helpless Julian Speroni to double West Ham’s advantage.

Palace fans would be forgiven for fearing the worst as they’ve failed to gain a single Premier League point from losing positions this season.

Yet hope was restored when they were awarded a penalty early in the second half, with Angelo Ogbonna bringing down an industrious Andros Townsend.

Luka Milivojevic thumped the resulting kick past Joe Hart to bring Palace back into the game.

The winner came in the 96th minute as Michail Antonio failed to keep the ball in the corner as Palace ran down the other end and punished this mistake, much to the frustration of his manager Slaven Bilic.

“To concede a goal in that manner is very, very frustrating. All we have to do is keep the ball for five seconds in that position where he is,” said a disappointed Bilic 

“One v one, the ball on the line, he can keep it forever. We knew how important this game was after [the] Brighton and Spurs games and to concede like that is a killer, it feels like a defeat.”
