Teeside airport faces strike as workers vote on industrial action

STRIKE action could be imminent at Teesside International Airport after workers began voting on walkouts over real-terms pay cuts, the GMB warned today.

The vote comes after the union’s members at the transport hub in England’s north-east rejected a below-inflation wage offer, according to the GMB.

The ballot — open to air traffic controllers and fire fighters — closes on September 28, with any industrial action likely to take place next month, the union confirmed.
