Protests erupt against Trump’s Jerusalem call

PROTESTS have erupted across Britain against US President Donald Trump’s provocative decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The announcement, in which Mr Trump said that the US will be transferring its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, has sparked protests around the world, with protesters in Palestine brutally put down by Israeli using rubber bullets and tear gas.

In Britain, thousands of demonstrators targeted the US embassy in London on Friday, shouting: “Hands off Jerusalem!”

And Halifax Friends of Palestine, which is affiliated to the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, staged a demonstration in the West Yorkshire town.

The group’s organiser and Halifax Labour Councillor Jenny Lynn said: “We had a good turnout for our Jerusalem protest. We had an hour of chants of: ‘Hands off Jerusalem’ and ‘Down with Donald Trump’ helping to keep us all warm.”
