Martinez: We’ll attack United at Old Trafford

No compromise for Everton chief against champions

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has insisted that his side will go for the jugular when they take on reigning Premier League champions
Manchester United at Old Trafford tonight.

The Spaniard has inspired something of a renaissance since replacing United-bound David Moyes last summer, with the Toffees now espousing an impressive brand of attacking football.

Indeed, Everton have been relentless in their pursuit of goals this term, as was illustrated in their 3-3 draw with Liverpool and a 4-0 rout
of Stoke.

And while historians will rightly point out that the Toffees haven't won at Old Trafford since 1992, Martinez is determined to put paid
to that dismal run as soon as possible.

"If we want to do something special this season we need to break that mentality of going to the big grounds and not being able to get good wins," he said.

"If you look at the last 10 years we have never beaten Manchester United or Arsenal or Chelsea or Liverpool at their own grounds and that for us is something we need to address.

"I do feel the game at Old Trafford is as big a test as we are going to get but after 13 games in the league I feel we are ready for that."

Martinez has no new injury worries, though Bryan Oviedo will have to continue deputising for injured left-back Leighton Baines (broken toe).

Meanwhile Moyes, who may start Marouane Fellaini against his old club for the first time, lavished praise on Martinez for his work at Everton.

"He is doing a very good job," said Moyes.

"He has very good players there. I always told them they could play without a manager because they are very well organised. But Roberto is doing a really good job keeping it going."

Moyes confirmed striker Robin van Persie "has a chance" of being fit after sitting out three games with a combination of groin and toe problems, though Phil Jones is suspended and Michael Carrick (Achilles) is out for the long term.
