ATHLETICS: Christine Ohuruogu will race over 200 metres at the Great CityGames in Manchester on May 17.

The world 400m champion will compete for the first time on home soil this year on a straight track on Deansgate.

The 29-year-old memorably set a British record 49.41 seconds in winning the world title by just 0.004secs last summer. 

 

TENNIS: Roger Federer has pulled out of this week’s Madrid Masters to be with wife Mirka as they await the birth of their third child.

The world number four, who has four-year-old twin girls, said at the Monte Carlo Masters last month that he would have no qualms about missing any tournament, even the French Open, to ensure he was at the birth. 

He apologised to fans on his Facebook page.

 

FOOTBALL: Neil Lennon is likely to ring the changes for Celtic’s Scottish Premiership clash with St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park tonight.

Midfielder Nir Biton and wide man James Forrest remain out with groin injuries while striker Georgios Samaras is ill.
