INDEPENDENCE: Scottish tennis ace Andy Murray said he does not know which nation he will play for if Scotland becomes independent.

The tennis star said he “didn't like it” when First Minister Alex Salmond unfurled the Scottish flag behind Prime Minister David Cameron in the Royal Box at his historic Wimbledon victory, in an interview with the Sunday Times.

ECONOMY: Manufacturing firms have increased their growth forecast amid plans to recruit more staff and boost investment, figures revealed yesterday.

A survey of 275 companies by manufacturers’ organisation EEF showed a strong picture on orders and output.

The EEF increased its growth forecast for the year from 2.7 per cent to 3.6 per cent, although it sounded a note of caution on exports because of weaker-than-expected growth in the eurozone and the US.

HEALTH: An alcohol awareness charity raised concerns yesterday over the heavy exposure of booze when advertising the World Cup.

Alcohol Concern said drink and football have become closely linked and alcohol companies had been “keen to associate themselves with the sport. It’s now rare to watch football on the television without being exposed to various forms of alcohol marketing.”
