Everyone has an opinion on the current captaincy situation with the England cricket team and most agree that Alastair Cook should step down and be dropped from the squad. But not me.

Cook hit 95 in the first innings of the third Test against India and showed he still has a lot to offer this side.

As they say, form is temporary but class is permanent — not that I think that Cook is world-class.

It’s more an option of not having a ready-made replacement to captain the Test side and we should support our sports stars when they are going through a rough patch.

When the batsman did eventually get out on Sunday, “gutted for Cook” was trending on Twitter showing some fans are still behind him.
