Manchester United's Wayne Rooney needs to get even better, says David Moyes

Boss wants even more from striker after reaching 200 goals in a United shirt

David Moyes wants even more from Wayne Rooney after the Manchester United forward returned from a head injury to hit three goals in a week.

Rooney's brace in the Champions League win over Bayer Leverkusen made him the fourth player in club history to reach 200 goals.

That fuelled speculation the club may offer him a contract extension despite the striker seeking to leave over the summer.

Moyes sidestepped the question today in the build-up to his first taste of Manchester derby action at City on Sunday.

"He's played really well and we want him to maintain that," the United boss said. "If anything I'm asking him to step up again. I want him to keep getting better."
