Syria: Russian air attacks blitz 1,000 Isis oil smugglers
RUSSIA’S Defence Ministry said yesterday that its aircraft had blitzed more than 1,000 Islamic State (Isis) oil tankers in five days.
Spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov added that the Russian Air Force had flown 141 sorties in two days, hitting 472 terrorist targets.
If accurate, the Russian claims would mean the fleet of tanker lorries used by smugglers to carry oil to neighbouring countries — a major source of income for Isis — has been all but wiped out.
